John 14:1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God and trust also in me.”
The definition of trust is to have firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of someone or something.
believing God requires faith.
faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God… even faith as big as a mustard seed. Meditate on the word of God.
The big question now is How. How do we trust God in an area of our lives ? This area could be that of finances, promotion, relationships, marriage , car, employment , healing or deliverance for examples …
Whatever the area.. this is how we trust God in those areas, you ready?
Ok, Here’s how!
#1 Remind yourself of who God is and his nature through his word (How has God shown up for you before) don’t you know He will do it again and again and again?
a. He can’t lie - Romans 3:4 & Numbers 23:19
b. He is faithful & He can be trusted - Hebrews 10:23 , 2Thessalonians 3:3 & Romans 3:3
c. He doesn’t change -Hebrews 13:8
Remember what God has done. Hasn’t God been good to you? He’s come through time and time again. And He will continue to that because it’s in his nature. It’s who He is. A faithful God.
#2 Don’t let
You have a choice. You have control over whether your heart becomes troubled or not. When you let you allow. So the scriptures says don’t let your heart be worried , anxious or afraid. Worry is a choice. Choose prayer(Phil.4-6-7)
My body has been telling on me lately with all the worrying I’ve been doing about my promotion. I’m not going to lie I am nervous about it. My God knows exactly where I am and my desires. I know his timing will be perfect. He told me to believe him. You see letting our hearts become troubled leads to heart palpitations, headaches, neck pain & can cause other health issues. What good is there to worry? What does it profit a man to worry? If he clothes the lilies how much more will He love on you?
Trusting God is also a choice. God can be trusted. When we choose not to trust God in an area & take matters into our own hands, we do more damage than good literally. We have to remember how BIG our God really is. The name above every other name. He measures the heavens with his finger. He holds the oceans in His hand. Who can compare to Him? Who is His equal? There is none. He has your back. He can be trusted. Our hearts will be troubled when we aren’t trusting God. That is a tell-tell sign that you are not trusting God if your heart is worried, afraid or anxious. The absence of trust is worry.
#3 Find Gods promises in the Bible & declare his word over your specific situation.
a. His word is truth John 17:17
b. His word is living, active & powerful. Hebrews 4:12
c. There are promises in the word of God. If it’s promotion what does the word say about it ? If it’s a need like a car or house what does the word say about it ?
Stand on the promises of God & declare out of your mouth his promises!
#4 Gods word is Him speaking to you
a. Trusting in God is also trusting not only in his ability, strength & relying on him but also believing his words. He is speaking to you about your situation right now.
b. The words God says to you in the Bible are true and won’t return void.
c. God watches over his word to perform it. He said He will do it. His promises are yes & amen.
